NFF to Slam $30,000 Fine on Coach Sunday Oliseh Over 'Insane' Video Rant

The Nigerian Football Federation is set to hand down a huge fine of $30,000 on the Head Coach of the Super Eagles over his recent outburst on YouTube.

Sunday Oliseh

Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, will face disciplinary measures, including a heavy fine over his outburst on YouTube where he went as far as calling his critics 'insane', Premium Times reports.

Although Oliseh has apologised and also made attempts to clarify that those he labelled ‘insane critics’ were not passionate Nigeria football fans, it is understood that the leadership of the NFF are already irked and would be slamming a heavy fine on the gaffer in the region of about Six million Naira (about $30,000).

Speaking with Premium Times, a member of the NFF Technical Committee said: “Yes, we are aware that he has apologized for the outburst but such act must not go unpunished, I don’t know how much will be slammed on him but he will be heavily fined”

Oliseh Tuesday night tweeted: “Please when I spoke of critics I did not mean the general public of Nigeria! I would never dare refer to my beloved country men as Insane!”
“How dare I Insult 170 million people who I love and have shown me so much love. Please forgive the error of editing! God bless you all.”

On whether the NFF is considering sacking Oliseh, the technical committee member refuted such plans as he explained that the federation would be happier if Oliseh succeeds as no one is praying for his downfall.

“We can’t be talking of sack now, the NFF wants Oliseh to succeed, we have crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games ahead of us. What is in the front burner now is seeing the Eagles do well to qualify, sacking or not sacking a coach is not the issue for now,” the source declared .
