I cheated on my boyfriend, confessed in hysterics and we are meant to be trying again – but the sex was so brilliant with the other guy, I’ve done it lots more times since.

 

I am 22 and my boyfriend is 21.

 

We’ve been together since school but I joined the Army two years ago so we have been apart a lot. I began to feel the relationship was falling apart a couple of months ago. The spark was gone — though he is my best friend and treats me like a princess.

 

I suggested going on a break.

 

He became very emotional but eventually agreed. I went away on a training course soon afterwards and got close to a lad on it.

 

He is 24.

 

We started sending flirty messages to one another and one night we ended up having sex.

 

It was so special to feel him want me so much — a real turn-on after my boyfriend, who is loving but not very sexy.

 

But I felt so guilty the next day that I phoned my boyfriend, crying my eyes out, and confessed what I had done. He wasn’t mad at me, just said it was a mistake and we can get over it and rebuild trust.

 

We had an emotional reunion when I had a weekend at home but the doubts soon returned.

 

I did not want to leave him as I cannot bear the thought of life without him, but I still suggested a three-month break to think. I am seeing the other guy and we get on well.

 

I like him a lot and the s*x is great.

 

Part of me wants to move on yet I cannot let go of my boyfriend.

 

We are supposed to be moving in to a flat together when I am back home and he talks about us getting married and having kids one day. Will our relationship get better again in time if we stay together?
