Six Notorious Armed Robbery Suspects Meet their Waterloo in Niger State

Policemen in Niger state have apprehended a notorious gang of armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Rafi Local Government Area of the state.

Niger State Police command said on Thursday it had arrested six suspected robbers terrorising Gadan Bada along Tegina road in Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
 
According to Punch, the suspects, Hamisu Idi, Haruna Usman, Haruna Abubakar, Sani Alhaji Tukur,  Alhaji Soja and Ali Hikima were trailed and arrested by police operatives.
 
The police acted on distress calls that the bandits had been making life miserable for the people living in the area. Speaking on the incident, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said that police operatives apprehended the bandits based on a tip-off.
 
Elkana disclosed that the operatives recovered from them one fabricated AK47 rifle and a local dane gun.
 
The spokesman also said the command’s Special Anti -kidnapping Squad had arrested one Idris Shehu for kidnapping Umar Mohammed at Tunga Bako in Rafi Local Government Area.
 
He added that the victim was the ‘commander ‘ of Fulani volunteer group that helped in protecting the council.
 
Elkana confirmed that the suspect demanded N30m ransom to release his victim.
 
He disclosed that the victim was rescued without ransom payment, adding that all the suspects would be charged to court on conclusion of investigations.
