Searching for a job is a job itself. Statistics show that as much as 60% of Nigerian youths are unemployed.
 
According to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the country’s unemployment rate has increased to 9.9 percent in the third quarter of 2015, representing a fourth consecutive rise in the unemployment rate since the third quarter of 2014.
 
The scourge of unemployment is affecting the country negatively according to analyst. Hence, unemployment is a problem. Even the current administration recognise this fact.
 
The question of how Nigerians can get employed and be employable is now a major concern. With this premise, we are decided to write up some tips on how you can get employed quickly.
 
1. Be Social Media Savvy
 
Social media is the trend now. Youths must take advantage of Facebook and Twitter when searching for a job. Many companies post vacancies on these platforms. You can’t avoid social media. It is too important to be neglected.
 
Many people have applied and gotten jobs through social media. So, open a twitter and Facebook today. It is not about uploading pictures and commenting.
 
2. Apply For Jobs That Correspond with Your Qualification
 
The job of the Human Resource department is very tedious because they have to sieve through 100s of curriculum Vitae weekly. With thousands applying for a limited placement, the onus is on the HR to select the best. Ensure your CV is well written to suit the specific job description you are applying for.
However, if your qualifications doesn’t correspond with the job placement, your CV will undoubtedly be thrashed. So, don’t be surprised if you are not invited job interviews. Apply for the right jobs.
 
3. Deadline For Application
 
Research has shown that many companies select successful candidates before the deadline date. For example, the deadline for a vacancy may be 2 months after the job placement was advertised. But, the company will conduct interviews and select candidates before the expiration of the two months.

Networking is the ultimate avenue to get employed more quickly. Reach out to friends, families, relatives and others. They will inform when there is a vacancy and also do well to tell them you need a job.
 
This said, ensure that you maintain regular contact with them. In fact, call them if they don’t call. In addition, go to events where you can meet people and don’t forget to collect their business cards.
