It was a night of agony in Ajumose, Ogbein area of Ede in Osun State when screams of pains from three children, their mother and her lover, woke residents up abruptly on Sunday, August 16.

The house of the victims was said to have been gutted with fire in the middle of the night, according  to the PUNCH reports.

The house was reportedly set on fire by one unnamed man who caught his lover sleeping with another man named Munirudeen Lawal.

The woman in question is named Hadijat Adegoke who was married with four children. She recently packed out of her husband's rented house and moved with her 4 children namely Fawas (13), Ishwat (12), Sodiq (8), and Fathia (6), in a two-bedroom flat which was yet to be fully completed by her.

Reports were gathered that Hadijat Adegoke was in the habit of sleeping with numerous men for financial benefits. Her numerous lovers helped in erecting the building, particularly one who is a bricklayer.

On this fateful night, one of the lovers visited Hadijat Adegoke unannounced and after noticing she was having sex with another man around 11pm angrily got a 50 litres jerrycan of petrol and set her room ablaze while she was fast asleep with the man.

Lawal and Adegoke were said to have been rushed to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, as a result of the burns they suffered. They are currently dead out of the severity of the burns. Her daughter escaped unhurt due to the fact that she wasn't sleeping around 11pm  the night the house was set on fire.

One of the residents, who pleaded not to be named, said, “The man discovered that they were having sex. He was visibly angry. Nobody paid him any notice because such drama was not a new thing here.”

The fire which affected only the room, burnt the two lovers and three out of Adegoke’s four children.

The kids were said to have sustained serious burns, but Ishwat escaped unscarred because she had yet to sleep when the suspect set the house ablaze.

Residents of the area told our correspondent that they heard cries from the victims’ house and assisted in putting out the fire, and later took the victims to a hospital in the area.

The three kids were taken to Muslim Hospital, Ede. Their maternal grandma, Mrs. Folasade Gafar, who was seen sobbing in the hospital, had yet to be told of the death of her daughter when our correspondent visited the place on Wednesday.

The three children were seen writhing in pains, while the grandma and Ishwat were busy fanning them with hand fans. The culprit is yet to be arrested and money is being sought for to help assist the family.
