The rivalry between former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and incumbent governor, Nyesome Wike has taken another twist.
Governor Wike had accused Amaechi of looting the Rivers State treasury, a claim which the former vehemently denied.
However, Justice George Omereji-led judicial commission of inquiry has advised Governor Nyesom Wike to act fast to recover the funds allegedly stashed away by Amaechi.
According to him, the Rivers state money was allegedly siphoned by Amaechi urging Wike to swift to action in order to recover the fund before it is too late to do so, Daily Post reports.
The chairman of the judicial panel said: “We are here to present the report and we would not want to state the content of the report but we want to say that if you go through the report and do what you promised, Rivers people will be better for it.

“We have seen, we have written and we have arrived at the conclusion that the Government should act fast. And by the time Government looks into the report and acts fast, we would be able to recover some billions where they kept them. That money belongs to Rivers people.”
Responding to Omereji’s submission, Governor Wike assured him that the recommendation of the commission of inquiry would attended to.
The governor said: “I want to assure you that this report will not be like any other report. We will make sure that we swing into action immediately to see that the recommendations made by your commission are implemented. We will not be intimidated by anybody or group of persons.”
