After severally insinuating that he was about to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress, Senator Shehu Sani might have finally jettisoned the idea.
Senator Shehu Sani
The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Shehu Sani, on Thursday revealed that the fight between him and Governor Nasir El-Rufai would soon be over.
Mr Sani, who is known for his open criticisms against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and also a fierce rival of El-Rufai spoke about the reconciliation while speaking to BBC Hausa Service on Thursday.
Speaking on the outcome of their meeting with Mr Buhari, the controversial lawmaker revealed that the president had assured them of his readiness to intervene in the crisis that rocked the party in their respective states.
According to him, the president appealed to them to remain in the party in its quest for power come 2019.
Mr Sani also noted that with the new National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, the party’s crisis would soon become history.
“It is clear that our crisis with our governors is what prompted some of us leave APC. However, the president assured us of his intervention.
“The president appealed to us not to join our brothers that defected just recently. He assured us that he would wade in to the party’s crises in our respective states.
“You know, the leadership of Oshiomole would provide a level ground and restore peace in APC. So we will wait and see what the future holds,” he said.
