Following the widespread claims that the Ebola virus has hit Cross River state, the management of University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) has come out to clear the air on the matters arising.

The UCTH released a statement  saying that the patient whose death sparked the ebola rumours, might have died from Haemorrhagic fever and not ebola.

Adding that, “The National Centre for Disease Control, Federal Ministry of Health, Cross River State Government and the Department of State Services had been informed of the development.”

The Chairman of the Medical Advisory Council, UCTH, Dr. Queeneth Kalu, also confirmed that 15 people have been quarantined.

Also, the  Director Public Health, Dr. Sunday Omini called for calm, adding that the matter is being investigated.
