Mustapha Maihaja, Director General of NEMA, confirmed the tragedy on Thursday, saying the management staff of the agency “have been thrown into mourning”.

Although he gave no further information on the attack, he said he had dispatched a team to Maiduguri to facilitate the return of Iliya’s remains to his family.

“The DG and the management also condole with the family of the deceased over the loss,” Sani Datti, NEMA’s Head of Media and Public relations, said on his behalf.

Datti added that the DG of NEMA had dispatched a team to Maiduguri to facilitate the return of Iliya’s remains to the family.
