A son out of anger burnt down the house of a man who is alleged to have raped his mother.
The son of an elderly rape victim has been arrested for allegedly setting alight the house of the alleged perpetrator, KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Monday.
The rape incident happened around 16:00 on Friday when a man entered the home of the 68-year-old woman, raped and assaulted the elderly woman before fleeing the scene spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said.
"When the son of the rape victim heard about the incident, he went to look for the suspect," he said. "He arrived at the suspect’s house at Snathing area but the suspect was not at home and the son allegedly set the suspect’s house alight."
The son of the woman was however been arrested on charges of arson. The 28-years-old rapist have been arrested in New Hanover where he ran away to dodge police arrest.
The police spokesperson, however urged citizens not to take law into their own hands as doing so will bring the full weigh of law on them. He condemned the burning down of the rapist's home and said the son of the raped woman will soon appear in court alongside the rapist on Tuesday.
