According to fresh reports this morning, one of the first generation banks situated in the Festac Area of Lagos State is under attack by armed robbers
Three popular banks in the FESTAC area of Lagos state were under serious attack by armed robbers.
According to eyewitnesses, about fifteen gunmen have besieged the banks, all located on 4th Avenue shooting sporadically into the air.
The robbers who are said to be dressed up in army fitigues, reportedly arrived via the canal in speed boats, blew up the security doors of Diamond, Finbank and Access banks and carted away unspecified amount of money, reports Vanguard.
The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joseph Offor, confirmed that the robbery is ongoing, but assured that some police officers were already on it.
He said: “yes, there is a robbery incident in Festac right now, but I cannot confirm anything else to you. Our men are on it, I can only talk more about it when the operation is over.”
