The senator representing Kaduna Central District, Shehu Sani, has taken to his verified Twitter page to reveal that some "struggling youth" offered to purchase his Senate nomination and expression-of-interest forms, but he turned down the offer because he didn't want to be in the "league of that deceptive political tradition".
The outspoken politician had purchased the election forms towards realising his ambition to re-contest for a seat in the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A tweet on the request by the youth to buy his nomination form via his handle on Monday, read:
"A group of youth struggling for daily bread approached me that I should permit them to announce that they bought a nomination form for me, as part of the political tradition, I politely declined. I don’t want to be in the league of that deceptive political tradition. They agreed".
The lawmaker also alleged in another tweet that a friend gave him "pepper and a handkerchief" to rub on his face to "shed tears", when he was collecting and submitting his forms, a gesture, which he also said he declined.
"A politician and a friend gave me a pepper and a Handkerchief to rub on my face so as to shed tears ‘on the plight of the masses’ when I’m collecting and submitting my nomination form. I politely turned him down. I told him that I’m an activist and not an actor."
