A distraught wife of a recently retired army general has cried out for help after her husband went missing.

Idris Alkali, a retired major general, has been declared missing by his family a few weeks after retirement from service, according to a report by
DailyNigerian.
The wife of the missing general, Salamatu Alkali while confirming the story to DailyNigerian said that she lost contact with her husband about one week ago when he embarked on a journey from Abuja to his farm in Bauchi State.
“Before embarking on the journey, I advised him to take the Kano route and ignore Jos because of the dangers inherent in that axis.
“The last time we spoke on that fateful day was when he called to tell me that he had just passed Jos. I protested why he did not take the Kano route, but he assured me everything would be okay,” the distraught wife said in emotion-laden tone.
According to her, the Nigerian Army had assured the family of their commitment towards establishing the whereabouts and the rescue of the missing general.
“They said we should be patient as they are combing the area, but we are losing patience as the days go by. We are really in distress, pain and agony.
“We are calling on all authorities involved in the search and rescue to expedite action and ensure his safe return back to us,” she said.
Mr Alkali, who hails from Potiskum, Yobe State, was onetime Chief of Administration at the Nigerian Army and acting General Officer Commanding of 7 Division.
He once escaped death when his convoy encountered four hidden Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, on operational visit to troops of 26 Task Force Brigade deployed for Operation Lafiya Dole in Bama, Borno State.
