The brutally battle between Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram terrorists has resulted in casualties.

Boko Haram fighters were apparently on a misadventure on Wednesday when they attacked the 145 Battalion in Damasak, Borno State.
 
Seven of them were ‘neutralised’ by gallant Nigerian soldiers and the vehicles brought by the insurgents were all destroyed in the exchange of gunfire that lasted about five hours.
 
The Chief of army staff, Lt. General Yusuf Buratai was himself in the region to lend efforts to the bid to flush out the remnants of Boko Haram fighters still hiding at the fringes of Lake Chad, from where they come on hit and run attacks in Nigeria’s territory.
 
The Army confirmed that its troops neutralized seven Boko Haram terrorists in the fierce gun battle.
 
According to a statement issued by Brig.-Gen Texas Chukwu on Thursday, items recovered from the insurgents included two vehicles, one anti aircraft gun and four AK 47 rifles.
 
The others, Chukwu said, were seven magazines, two hand grenades, one bayonet, 47 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 174 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
 
The army spokesman, however, added the seven soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter.
 
He said efforts were ongoing to get other fleeing members of the group.
