A court sitting in Abuja has dissolved a marriage of 25 years for battery.

Judge Isah Imam on Tuesday in a Grade 1 Area Court, Gudu, Abuja dissolved the marriage between Ibrahim Gurama and his wife Fatima Ibrahim for battery after Fatima filed for divorce.

The judgement was given in a resumed hearing of the case. The Judge having considered the letter of consent from Imam, dissolved the marriage. The letter of consent submitted by Imam and written in the presence of the court bailiff and respondent's relatives convinced the judge to nullify the union.

Fatima who has 10 children for Imam, accused him of wife battery, lack of care and love. She maintained that her husband a resident of Bocos, Jos, in Plateau refused to send their children to school and did not provide money for feeding.

She told the court that the husband had beaten and injured her on several occasions. She has no other option than to divorce.

The court granted her wish.
