Notorious Armed Robber Arrested Weeks After Killing Victim's Son (Photo)

The long arm of law has finally caught up with a notorious thief who killed victim's son in Niger state.

The Niger State Police Command has nabbed a member of a criminal gang robbing residents of Gada Biyu in the Lapai Local Government Area of the state.
 
According to Punch, the suspect, Jide Mairisu, of Beji in the Bosso Local Government Area, was arrested by a team of police detectives attached to Lapai Division following a tip-off.
 
It was reported that sometime in August 2018, the hoodlums had attacked one Adamu Jibrin of Gada Biyu in Lapai, and killed one of his sons, Musa Adamu, before fleeing.
 
It was gathered that on Sunday Jibrin had resisted the attempt of the hoodlums to rob him leading to the death of his son.
 
Mairisu in an interview said that he and other members had been  into crime for over five years.

“We used to move from one village to another to rob people of their valuables; l never knew that one day, the law will catch up with me,” he said.
 
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had confessed that he was among the eight-man syndicate that attacked and killed Jibrin’s son in Lapai.
 
Abubakar said the operatives had intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that they recovered 30 rounds of live ammunition from Mairisu.
 
The police spokesman said an investigation was ongoing, adding that the matter would soon be charged to court.
