A 21-year old girl was shocked to discover that her mother had stolen the compensation money after she was raped by her stepdad.
21-year old Chantelle Jones found her mother, had spent £13,000 of the money she claimed she’d been looking after for 10 years.
The girl who became Britain’s youngest mum after her stepdad raped her has told how her callous mother pilfered £13,000 of her compensation money.
Chantelle Jones, who was just 11 when she was brutally attacked by her mother’s partner and made pregnant, expected to get £15,000 when she turned 21.
She was stunned when she discovered there was only £2,000 left.
Furious Chantelle, who became pregnant at the age of 12 years and three months, now believes her mum Beverley Bale blew at least £10,000 on a lavish wedding with a new lover.
Chantelle's mother, Beverly
In an attempt to hide the deception, Beverley then lied to her daughter that she could not have the money until she was 21.
Chantelle, who had hoped to start a business with the cash, told the Sunday People last week, “Whatever opportunity she’s had she has let me down
“I’ve always forgiven her because you only get one mum.
“But she’s betrayed me for the last time. Not only have I lost my childhood, I’ve lost my baby and now I’ve lost my compensation for being raped. She’s ruined my life and I don’t want anything to do with her.”
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board awarded Chantelle total compensation of £22,000 - £16,500 for her rape ordeal and another £5,500 for the pregnancy.
The money was paid in trust to her mother because she was still under 18.
But over the following years Beverley spent more than half the cash.
