Two brothers have been arraigned by the police for damaging their elder brother's tricycle. Tungba Ishaya and Emmanuel Ishaya living in Jenta Mangoro area of Jos are facing a three-count charge of mischief, criminal conspiracy and criminal force.
This was revealed by Sgt. Thomas Amoku, the prosecutor after Yakubu Ishaya, elder brother to the accused reported the matter to the 'A' Division Police Station in Jos.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Thomas Amoku, told the court that on Oct. 10, one Yakubu Ishaya, an elder brother to the accused, reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Jos.
The prosecutor also told the court that after Yakubu Ishaya reported the matter to the police, he was attacked the same day by his two brothers who broke the windshield of his bicycle and injured him.
The accused committed an offence punishable according to provisions of section 97, 267 and 327 of the Penal Code. They have since confessed to the crime.
However, one of the accused did not plead guilty to the offence as he told the court: “I was sleeping when my younger brother rushed in to tell me that our elder brother was beating him.
“I rushed out to know why he was beating him and he started to beat me too, then we started fighting and in the process, we mistakenly broke the wind shield of his tricycle which was parked by the side of the house.
“I did not do anything wrong, it was not me that broke the glass.’’
Mr. Naalang Dashe, The Magistrate adjourned the case till Nov. 6 for further hearing after granting them bail in the sum of N200,000 each and a surety each in like sum and the sureties must reside within the court's jurisdiction and must submit two recent passport photographs and drivers' licence or national identity card.
