Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) shifts Borno Central bye-election

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Borno State, Mr. Samuel Madaki diclosed on Wednesday that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the earlier scheduled Oct. 17 bye-election for Borno Central senatorial district to Oct. 31.

This he said in a conference before newsmen in Maiduguri citing logistic problems. Madaki said: “We have to postpone the election due to unforeseen circumstances,’’

He hinted that the directive by government for the new banking policy on operation of single account by government agencies created hitches in operations and supply of logistics from INEC headquarters. He told all parties involved to exercise patience as the issue is being tackled.
