Indications have emerged that the move to fill the vacant stool of the Ooni of Ife might take longer than expected.

The internal and external crisis rocking ruling houses in Ile Ife have reportedly thwarted the efforts to fill the vacant stool of Ooni of Ile-Ife.
It would be recalled that the state government and Ife Kingmakers had agreed and affirmed that Giesi Ruling House should present candidate(s) to fill the stool of Ooni in compliance with 1979/80 declaration.
However, all the eight royal compounds within Giesi Ruling House are presently at loggerhead on where and how the candidate should emerge.
As at last count, no fewer than 35 names have been forwarded to the Ife Kingmakers and Ife Local Government Councils by all the eight royal compound with Agbedegbede royal compound having 22 candidates out of the entire list before the kingmakers while others are having either one or two candidates.
Findings further revealed that seven out of the eight royal compounds in Giesi Royal Compounds are kicking against the list of names forwarded to the kingmakers.
Speaking on the crisis within Giesi Ruling House, Venerable Ishola Ojo from Moniki royal Compound confirmed the crisis saying that the process had been stalled because the process had been wrong and unacceptable to all the seven out of eight royal compounds within Giesi Ruling House.
He alleged that the screening exercise was a one man show “as the Chairman of the committee, Professor Aderibigbe singlehandedly dominated the scene.
