A 48-year-old man has sent a parcel containing a live cobra to his wife's colleague warning him to stay away from her.
Angeline D'Silva, an employee with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), received the parcel on 13 October when he was in the office. The package had holes in it to allow the snake to breathe.
Shivaprasad, the sender of the parcel is the husband of Sheiljaa, a female employee who works at BESCOM with D'Silva, The New Indian Express reported.
The parcel contained many threat letters too that was written in Kannada, according to a report by The Hindu. The letters warned D'Silva to stay away from Sheiljaa or face the consequences.
On receiving the parcel, D'Silva lodged a complaint with the High Grounds Police, who after investigation found out about Shivaprasad and Sheiljaa.
Sandeep Patil, DCP (central) said that the police have contacted the courier company, which delivered the parcel and "will make an arrest in the case soon,".
As of now, the police have reportedly lodged a non-cognisable offence against Shivaprasad. However, sources claimed that he is eligible to be charged under Sections 506 of IPC for criminal intimidation after the court permits the same.
