Omar Al-Marime has been named as the new coach Libya national team following the resignation of Adel Amrouche.

Days to their African Cup of Nations qualifying game with the Super Eagles, the former Kenya boss quit the Mediterranean Knights as the head coach of the side over unpaid salaries.

The north Africans have been impressive in their qualifying campaign under Amrouche with 5-1 victory over Seychelles and a goalless draw against South Africa.

The result ensured their position at the top of Group E with four points ahead of their illustrious opponents the Bafana Bafana, on goal difference, Nigeria with three points and Seychelles with zero point.

Libya are expected to arrive Nigeria on Thursday ahead of their tie with Gernot Rohr’s men on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
