Senators under the aegis All Progressives Congress will today, Monday, October 19, meet to save the ministerial nomination of the former Rivers State governor which has been enmeshed in controversy.
In the last two weeks, Amaechi's nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari has since been swimming in deep controversy.
However, it was learnt that APC senators, are making moves to ensure that the former governor scales the screening this week.
It was also learnt that if the need arises, the APC caucus might use their slim majority to outvote senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the event of a division in the Senate.
Amaechiās screening could not take place last week following a petition against his screening and confirmation, by a non-governmental organisation in Rivers State, The Integrity Group.
