15 persons have been charged by the police after they were nabbed in a criminal hideout.
A 30-year-old man, Ibrahim Sani and 14 others have been remanded in prison for alleged criminal conspiracy. The 15 suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy before a Kano magistrate court on Monday.
The prosecutor, Insp. Anthony Edward, told the court that one Insp. Iliya Umar and a team of police and military personnel attached to Falgore Forest patrol team of Doguwa Division reported the case to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Sept.16. He informed the court that the suspects were arrested when the patrol team raided their criminal hideout in Doguwa Local Government Area of the state.
Edward further said the criminals couldn't explain what they were doing in a criminal hideout under interrogation. Edward said they committed an act contrary to sections 97 and 307 of the penal code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Khaleel, ordered that they be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to Oct. 20 for further hearing on the case.
