Tension escalated at the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly as some members tried to impeach the Governor of the state.
Factional speaker, Nse Ntuen
Details have emerged showing how the factional speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly escaped being lynched today.
The factional Speaker, Nse Ntuen had earlier sat with the four other sacked lawmakers while allegedy planning to impeach the Governor of the state.
However, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel who got hint of the plan, arrived the State House of Assembly Tuesday morning to a rowdy session of youths heralding his visit.
Immediately Emmanuel entered the premises of the Assembly, gunshots were fired by security personnel forcing the factional speaker, Ntuen to flee as his vehicle was reportedly destroyed.
As the governor entered the assembly hall, youths started shouting ‘eight years’, ‘eight years’.
Many journalists had to run for safety amidst gunshots.
