Ex French international, former Liverpool, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers striker, Djibril Cisse has announced his retirement from football, before breaking down in tears on live TV.

The 34-year old who won 41 caps for France and played for 12 clubs in a career spanning a decade and a half, has called time on his playing days after going more than a year without a league goal.

The controversial forward was left in tears as his former coach, Guy Roux, paid tribute to him on French television.

His career took him to six countries, and clubs including Marseille, Panathinaikos, Lazio and Bastia. But, despite netting over 250 goals for club and country, he didn't manage a single league strike last season, although he did score three goals in the cup for his club.
