A rich musician who was left with part of his body severely burnt after the jet he was in crashed, has revealed that he asked his friends to take his life because of the severe burns.
Travis Barker
In a moving encounter, American musician and singer, Travis Barker talked about the horrific plane crash that killed four people including the two pilots, Travis' security guard and musician's assistant. The accident happened while the jet was taking off in South Carolina when a tyre burst causing the plane to collide with the embankment at the airport.
He was left severely burnt and deformed by the fire accident that gutted the jet. He told ABC News that because of the burns to his body, he was willing to pay for someone to end his life.
Travis said: "I mean, [medical officials] had to take my phone out of my room because I was making these phone calls. I would call friends of mine and go, ‘You know, I’ll deposit a million dollars into whoever’s bank account. Like, I’m done.’"
He found it difficult to live a normal life because of the accident and had to undergo 27 surgeries after 65 per cent of his body was left with severe burns. He managed to escape the accident with his late-friend DJ AM seconds before the plane exploded.
He recalled: "The plane's on fire and my hands are on fire so I unbuckle my seat belt and I jump right into the jet, which holds all the fuel. I basically ignite my whole body in fire. I'm so soaked in jet fuel, there's nothing I can do to put the fire out. I'm completely nude at this point...I'm running, grabbing my testicles, my genitals, because, I don't know why, and then we realise, you know, we're out of the plane and... the plane explodes."
Travis, reflects more on the incident in his new memoir, titled Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums.
