A man who accused his wife of always slapping him each time they have a heated argument, has dragged her to court praying for the dissolution of the marriage.
A 67-year old welder identified as Jimoh Ayinla, has dragged his wife of 38-years, Anike for alleged adultery and battery. He told the court that the wife was a habitual cheat and adulterer who was impregnated in his matrimonial home by another man. He also said that the wife had once ran away from his house without him knowing that she was pregnant for another man.
Jimoh who told the court that he married another woman when his wife refused to come back after running away with another man, revealed that when his first wife eventually came back, she has been giving him nothing but trouble.
"My wife left my house to an unknown destination and I did not know that she was pregnant until she gave birth later in her new man’s house. I married another wife because our children that used to cook for me had all married and I was getting older to cook for myself. It was after I had remarried that my wife returned to our home and I had to accommodate her.
But, I rejected the child she bore for another man asking her to send the child back to her father. Anike was always engaging my younger wife in physical fight on daily basis and I am afraid she might kill her one day. She always slaps me whenever we have heated argument."
The accussed woman did not deny any of the claims but begged the court not to dissolve the marriage since she is still in love with the husband. "It was my husband that pushed me to finding solace and comfort in another man because he was always beating me," she told the court.
She however begged the court not to grant her husband’s application for divorce, saying she was still in love with him. The President, Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case to Dec. 7 for further hearing.
