Bloodbath As Over 20 Villagers Are Killed By Armed Bandits In Sokoto State (Photo)

Many people have lost their lives following a bloody attack by bandits at a village in Sokoto state.

Victims 
 
At least, twenty six people including a one-year-old girl lost their lives after suspected armed bandits attacked Gandhi district of Rabah local government area of Sokoto.
 
According to DailyTrust, the attacks were said to have occurred  at the early hours of Sunday in Warwana, Tabkin Kwasa and Dutsi villages. It was gathered that the victims were over 20 males and four females.
 
Some displaced persons from the affected villages have been taken  to IDPs camp in Gandhi town, it was learnt.
 
According to witnesses’ accounts, the attackers came on 25 motorcycles, each carrying three bandits.
 
Another account said the bandits started attacking the communities around 5pm.
 
Confirming the attack, the state Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani, said they had deployed more men to the area while a strong team of Army, police and Civil Defence Corps were currently patrolling the area.
 
While condoling the District head of Gandhi, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, described the attack as the highest level of inhumanity against man and regrettable.
 
He assured that the government would continue to do its best to protect lives and property of the people.
 
Tambuwal urged the people of the state to cooperate with the security agencies by reporting any pending attack.
 
He assured those displaced by the attack that the government would provide them with all the necessary support during their stay in the camp.
