If not for the timely intervention of the police, a man alleged to be a fraudster and ritualist would have been beaten to death for stabbing a girl to death in Owerri.
Scene of the incident
A man has escaped death by the whiskers after he was almost lynched for allegedly stabbing a girl to death in Owerri, Imo state.
He was however, rescued by policemen who arrived at the scene.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the man might be an internet fraudster a.k.a yahoo-boy who wanted to use the girl for ritual, while others said he is mentally unstable.
He was detained by members of the community after he allegedly stabbed the youngster to death with a knife at Douglas market in Owerri.
The man was brutally beaten by the angry mob before security operatives arrived and brought the situation under control.
