Secondary School Students Attack Corp Members With Cutlasses in Abia

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Ibeku High School of Umuahia North Abia state were on Thursday attacked by some students of the school.

 
According to Daily Post, the incident which occured on Thursday, caused serious panic among residents. The students who are suspected to be cultists were armed with cutlasses and locally made guns attacked the unsuspecting corps members in their lodge situated within the school premises.

No fewer than ten of the students scaled the fence when they invaded the school to attck the corps members. An eyewitness account states that they succeeded in stealing and vandalizing property of the corps members.

Meanwhile, when the principal of the school was contacted in the cause of the incident, he said he was in a meeting.

However Police officers have apprehended some of the students. Following interrogations, some of them confessed to scaling the fence to attack some male corps members serving in the school.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative department, SCID, for further investigation.
