APC Members Stage Protest At Rivers INEC Office Amidst Police Blockade

The protesters are threatening that elections will not hold in the state if the APC is not on the ballot.

Scores of supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State have taken over the main gate of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Port Harcourt in protest of the non-inclusion of their candidates in the ballot for Saturdays and March 2, 2019 elections.

The protesters threatened that election would not hold in Rivers if INEC refused to allow their candidates to be part of the exercise.

Meanwhile,  the police have restricted access to the head office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State.

A team of policemen stormed the commission’s office on Aba road, Port Harcourt, early on Thursday.

They prevented INEC officials and visitors from going in and out of the office.

The INEC officials were preparing for Saturday’s presidential and legislative elections when the officers restricted access to the office.
