A man in the IDPs camp in Damaturu surprised people recently when he identified his son as a Boko Haram member and begged soldiers to kill the boy.

A man who ran away from his village because of Boko Haram attack, has surprised people by begging soldiers to kill his son suspected to be a member of the deadly Islamic sect after he identified him at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Damaturu, Yobe state.
The suspect’s father who revealed to journalists that he fled his village when his son plotted to have him killed, begged soldiers to kill the boy for killing many others. "I have nothing to do with him; he should be arrested and killed just like he killed others," he said.
The son was among the four Boko Haram suspects arrested as they tried to enter the Pompomari IDP camp. This was disclosed by Musa Jidawa, Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Jidawa said: "A member of his Turo Kura village identified the suspect and raised an alarm, saying he belongs to the sect and the suspect’s father, also an IDP at the camp, confirmed it, which led to his arrest."
He said the suspects who disguised as visitors to see relatives at the camp were arrested after they were identified as Boko Haram members by IDPs from their communities.
