HBO's Game of Thrones has set new records on the piracy chart with its latest episode, 'Kill the boy', registering more than 2.2 million times download worldwide in less than 12 hours since its Sunday airing on TV.

The HBO TV Series, 'Game Of Thrones', has again broken new piracy records after its latest episode, 'Kill the Boy', was downloaded 2.2 million times within 12 hours of its release, dwarfing previously set records, according to Variety reports.

Variety, who cited piracy-tracking company Excipio as their source, said the first illegal copy of the fifth episode appeared online shortly after it was broadcast in the US at 9 o'clock ET on Sunday.

Sitting atop the chart of countries pirating the TV show, according to Variety is the US with over 200,000 downloads at the time they published, followed by Australia, Brazil, India, and the UK rounding up the top five list.

The show previously set the one-day piracy record with its season four premiere, which registered 1.86 million in the first 24 hours of its release.
