Punch Metro reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission has started sorting sensitive electoral materials for distribution to the 44 local government areas of Kano State.

This followed the collection of card readers and ballot papers from the state branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, on Wednesday.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mallam Garba Mohammed, confirmed this development in a telephone interview, with The PUNCH.

He explained that non-sensitive materials had already been dispatched to the various local governments as part of efforts to ease challenges posed by logistics.

Mohammed said, “We hope to begin the distribution of our sensitive materials such as card readers and ballot papers by this evening when we finish sorting.

“Right now, we are sorting the items local government by local government as we receive them from the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
