A Nevada woman has died after she accidentally got trapped in a cryotherapy chamber.

24-year-old Chelsea Ake-Salvacion, of Henderson, was trapped in the chamber for at least 10 hours at Rejuvenice, a clinic that offers cryotherapy, which involves standing in a chamber with dry air and that dips below -240 degrees Farenheit, Fox News reports.
The therapy has been used to reduce inflammation, slow signs of aging and help heal sports injuries, but effects are seen after only about two minutes. It also promises to help clients burn calories, reduce pain, strengthen immune systems and halt aging by embedding them in freezing tanks for a few minutes at a time
Ake, a Hawaiian native, was the manager of Rejuvenice. Her coworkers found her frozen inside the machine.
According to a local police report, Ake used the machine without assistance and likely suffocated.
Spas that use cryotherapy have been popping up across the country. KryoLife, a Manhattan company that uses cryotherapy, issued a statement on its Facebook page saying: "We are sad to learn about the passing of Chelsea Ake, the store manager at Rejuvenice."
The death raised questions about safety in the growing industry of cryotherapy, which is practiced by star athletes and celebrities but is rarely studied and not regulated by any one body.
