Rivers State had one of the bloodiest election polls a couple of weeks ago. To that effect, Elders of the state have seriously condemned the act of violence and also commended Muhammadu Buhari on his win.
Rivers State Elders have condemned the political violence witnessed in the state during the last general polls.
Speaking under the aegis of Founding Fathers Foundation of Rivers State, yesterday in Port Harcourt, Chairman of the body, Chief Albert Horsfall, said that since its creation, the state had never witnessed the level of political violence seen in the state in the weeks preceding the just concluded general elections.
Congratulating the president-elect, General Muhamadu Buhari, on his emergence, Chief Horsfall, a former Director General of Department of State Security, DSS, appealed to Buhari to help achieve a violence-free Rivers State.
“We condemn every act of violence in the state. We condemn the violence in the last elections. Those promoting violence should drop their guns. We need peace,” he said.
