NEMA confirms registration of 11,449 Nigerian returnees from Niger Republic

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has continued in its duties to assist and maintain the situation of refugees from Niger Republic. NEMA stated that it's body has successfully registered about 11,449 citizens from Niger in Yobe State.

 
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said it had registered 11, 449 Nigerian returnees from Niger Republic in Yobe.
 
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Ezekiel Manzu, the Information Officer of the agency in Abuja on Tuesday .
 
It stated that out of the 11,449 returnees that were registered at a transit camp in Geidam, Yobe, 7,000 have been transported to their various states.
 
It stated further that some of them were identified as indigenes of Borno, Taraba, Jigawa, Kano, Benue, Bauchi, Sokoto, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Imo, and Delta states.
 
The statement said NEMA had provided high capacity buses and vehicles to transport the returnees to their states, adding that the agency would continue to provide basic support to transit camps.
 
According to the statement, the Director General of NEMA, Mr Sani Sidi , said the agency was committed to ensuring that the returnees were safely transported to their states.
 
“The agency is fully committed to the transportation of the returnees to their states and the staff of the agency would remain at the transit camp until the last person leaves.

“More relief supports have also been deployed to support them while in the camp", Sidi said.
