Thousands of members of the People's Democratic Party in Kogi state have dropped their membership for the All Progressives Congress as the gubernatorial election tension intensifies in the state.
No fewer than 10,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Channels TV.
Leading the defectors, was a former PDP chieftain, Amade Edime, who turned down Governor Idris Wada’s appointment as a Special Adviser.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Edime said they decided to dump the PDP because they don’t want to be associated with failure.
He said the PDP has performed below average, thereby making it a hard sell to the people of the state. He promised to work very hard in ensuring the emergence of the APC candidate in the November 21 governorship election in the state.
Receiving the defectors, the APC’s candidate in the election, Abubakar Audu, commended them for their timely decision to join the APC. He assured them that they will be treated equally along with other members who have been in the party.
This has been deemed a fatal blow to the PDP circle as the gubernatorial election in Kogi state is drawing closer.
