Desperate Woman Sells Her Child For N1.5million in Asaba

A woman in Delta State is currently cooling her heels in Police custody after she allegedly sold her child for 1.5million naira

 
Detectives in Asaba attached to the Delta State Police Commans have arrested a housewife identified as Elizabeth Okolie in Okpanam community for reportedly selling her baby for N1.5 million.
 
It was learnt that the woman,33, a trader in one of the markets in the area, allegedly sold her baby when the purported father refused to accept the paternity.
 
Police Commissioner in the State, Alkali Baba Usman confirmed that the detectives acted on a tip off and arrested the woman on her way to Benin City after she had allegedly sold the baby to an unidentified buyer.
 
The police boss said that the woman, upon interrogation, made useful statements to the police, adding that the police detectives have gone after the buyer of the baby, Leadership reports.
 
The Police Commissioner said “We arrested the woman through useful information that the baby she put to bed three months ago was sold to an unidentified buyer when she had quarrels with the man she claimed to be her husband and the man denied the paternity of the child.
