Reports emerging say that the Federal Government Secretariat complex in Abuja has been engulfed by fire. The source claims the raging inferno started at the 6th floor.
The complex housing major government offices in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, is on fire, Premium Times reports.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started from the section of the complex occupied by the Federal Ministry of Education and fire fighters are battling to save the inferno from spreading to adjourning buildings.
It reportedly began at the sixth floor of the building and is believed to have affected the seventh and eight floors.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but thick smokes has engulfed the building and surrounding ones.
Workers in the building were seen scampering for safety while a good number of staff and visitors are trapped in the complex.
