The government of Katsina state has passed a law imposing mandatory death sentence on kidnappers and cattle rustlers.

Governor Aminu Masari has signed into law mandatory death sentence for anyone convicted of cattle rustling or kidnapping in Katsina State, according to a report by Channels Television.
Similarly, the offence of rape carries the mandatory sentence of life in addition to fine and compensation to victim.
