An angry orphan cannot take no from the authorities after he was treated like badly by the government.
Tony Hawkins
A man has revealed to BBC how he was forced to eat dog food when he was suddenly orphaned.
The young man named Tony Hawkins is very angry and has slammed the Liverpool City Council for failing to apologise. He wants the council to pay for making them suffer such humiliation at a tender age.
Hawkins was eight when his parents died unexpectedly in 1983, leaving him and his three brothers and sisters to fend for themselves. His 16-year-old brother James told Liverpool City Council he could look after his younger siblings and the family were left on their own.
He said: “I can’t go through life being regarded as the kids who never existed.” All the orphan wants is for a way to hold the authorities responsible for condemning them to such ignoble pains. He hopes his fight will help make the authorities stand up to its responsibility in the future. Tony wants someone to be held responsible for all that happened.
Liverpool City Council later apologised and said it “publicly acknowledged it had let these young people down over 30 years ago. Since that time there have been many changes in social work practice and safeguards in place to prevent this happening now.”
