An 11-year-old boy saved the life of his little sister, but lost his own, after a hit-and-run driver charged at their school bus.
La'Darious Wylie
According to a WBTV report, the boy, La'Darious Wylie and his littler sister, Shavonte, were waiting at a bus stop last Tuesday when a car unexpectedly drove toward them and the other children at the stop.
According to the children who witnessed the crash, La'Darious pushed his younger sister out of the way and got hit in her place.
La’Darious died the next day at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. His funeral is scheduled for Thursday.
Two days after the incident, police said they arrested the hit and run driver Michelle Johnson, 57, and charged her with felony hit-and-run resulting in death. She was released Friday after posting $25,000 bail.
It was not clear whether she had entered a plea in court.
Residents of Wylie's Chester hometown have asked city officials to rename a nearby park in La'Darious' honour. He played there every day.
