Many people were left angry and dejected after a court released ex-cops arrested for gang-raping an adult woman.
Prosecutors on Friday gave up indicting two former police officers in Osaka, Japan, who were arrested on suspicion of gang-raping an adult woman in the city last December.
The case was thrown out as the judge cited insufficient evidence.
The 32-year-old and 36-year-old former police officers were among four people arrested in connection with the case who were not charged.
Another man, referred to prosecutors without arrest, was also not charged, according to the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office.
The 36-year-old man was a sergeant in the Osaka prefectural police force when he was arrested.
