The Chairman of the anti-graft body, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been relieved of his duties by the Federal Government.

Ibrahim Lamorde

Ibrahim Magu, a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC, has been elevated to the position of chairman of the commission, replacing Ibrahim Lamorde who has held the position since 2011.

This follows the federal government's removal of Ibrahim Lamorde today, November 9.

Magu is remembered as a no-nonsense investigator of the commission at its inception.  He was removed along with several other key officials by Lamorde's predecessor, Farida Waziri when she became chairman in 2008.

Details on the reason behind his removal are currently unknown, but rumours have it that it is not far from the allegations of the embezzlement of over N1 trillion of the loots recovered from corrupt government officials.
