The menace of the deadly Boko Haram sect has gotten to the Republic of Chad as the Central African nation has declared a state of emergency.

The Boko Haram insurgency has led to the declaration of a state of emergency in the Republic of Chad. The nationwide state of emergency was effective as of Monday, November 9.

The Chadian government was forced to make the announcement as a result of the recent spate of raids and suicide bombings by Boko Haram.

The insurgent group has increased its attacks in remote border areas around Lake Chad in the past few days.

At least three people were killed in a Chadian village on Sunday and three Nigerian refugees were murdered in northern Cameroon on Monday.

Chad’s Communications Minister, Hassan Sylla Bakari said the state of emergency would give authorities the elbow room to search and monitor residents in the region.
