Reigning U-17 World Champions, the Golden Eaglets are set to make a triumphant return to Nigeria.

The Golden Eaglets

Fresh from their victorious outing at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the Golden Eaglets will return to the country tomorrow aboard a chartered flight. This revelation was made by the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The team is expected to fly straight to Abuja, where NFF and National Sports Commission (NSC) officials will receive them before being presented to Nigerians.

It is not certain when/or if they will go to the Aso Rock Villa to present the trophy to President Mohammed Buhari, who will inaugurate the Federal Executive Council tomorrow.

According to The Guardian, an official of the federation revealed that the federation was planning a befitting reception for the team, adding, “We also want to see what the Presidency plans for the boys so that we can key in on that.”

Also, it has been revealed that the NFF plans to retain Coach Emmanuel Amuneke for the National U-17 team for another term.

This is a departure from the past where precious U-17 team coaches moved with their squad to the national U-20 team.
