Our correspondent gathered that Aisha was released in Abuja around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night after spending about 30 hours with the kidnappers.

Her father, Umar, confirmed the release of her daughter in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday morning.

“She was released on Sunday night around 11:00 p.m. She is fine and she is with me now,”
he said.

It was gathered that Aisha was taken to a forest close to Gwarinpa area of the nation’s capital, where she was kept until her release.

After her release, she was said to have trekked to an eatery from where she borrowed a telephone with which she called her father.

Her father, who was a former presidential aide, drove to the eatery to pick his daughter up.

Aisha was abducted at 7:45 p.m outside a popular supermarket in Kwame Nkwruma Crescent, Abuja on Saturday.
