Nigerian Army says it is making progress in its fight against Boko Haram as it killed many of its members and rescued innocent civilians.

Nigerian Army on Thursday revealed that it killed four suspected Boko Haram suspects and rescued 61 people abducted and held captive by the Boko Haram terrorists, mainly women and children in northeastern Borno state.
“The rescued persons were mainly women and children. Troops killed four terrorists and arrested one.” Army said.
The Nigerian army had last October 28 also said it freed more than 330 people, mostly women and children, from Boko Haram’s Sambisa forest stronghold in an operation in the volatile northeast.
Many have still not heard anything concerning the rescue of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by the Islamist group in April last year in Chibok, Borno state.
The army are working round the clock to meet the December deadline given by the president. Although successes have been recorded in the past months, Nigerians are bent on seeing an end to Boko Haram insurgency and believe that the army is capable of ending the reign of terror.
Boko Haram violence has killed at least 17,000 people and forced more than 2.5 million to flee their homes since 2009.
The group has also carried out deadly cross-border attacks in neighbouring Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
